The Division 2 Open Beta Pre-Loading Now Available

The Division 2 open beta will be playable soon, and for those who like to be prepared, pre-loading is now available across PC, Xbox One, and PS4. You can download the test to take part this weekend, from March 1-4.

This test will include three main missions that you can play on Normal and Hard mode: Grand Washington Hotel, Jefferson Trade Center, and Viewpoint Museum. The first two of those were present in the previous private betas, while the third is new to this test. It also includes five side missions, and once you’ve finished the Jefferson Trade Center you’ll open up three level 30 characters to try out some endgame content. This beta also includes a Skirmish PvP map called Capitol Ruins, and two additional Settlement Projects.

You’ll have more options when it comes to your character as compared to the closed betas as well. The level cap is going up to 8 for the open beta, and a new Chem Launcher skill will be available with Riot Foam and Explosive Vapor variants.

In case the beta gets you interested in the full game, Ubisoft recently detailed its roadmap for the first year of content. Those plans include a new stronghold, an eight-player raid, and three post-launch episodes coming in summer, fall, and winter. All of that content will be free for all players, but you can get early access to it with a Year 1 Pass. That will cost $40 and also get you special cosmetic items, eight Classified Assignments, and instant access to any new Specializations. The studio will also be selling cosmetics through an in-game shop.

The Division 2 launches on March 15. Check out our wrap-up of everything we know and some of our favorite new features.

Last Chance To Download February’s PlayStation Plus Freebies (PS4, PS3, Vita)

The next group of March PlayStation Plus free games will be live in less than a week, which means it’s your last chance to grab the freebies being offered in February. February’s batch of free PlayStation Plus games will be the last to include PS3 and Vita games, so it’ll be only PS4 titles offered from here on out. However, Sony did increase cloud storage for PS Plus members from 10GB to 100GB this month as a perk. And you’ll still be able to play any PS3 and Vita games in your library as long as you’re a PS Plus member.

February’s available free games include For Honor and Hitman: The Complete First Season as the two PS4 exclusives. Gunhouse and Rogue Aces are available for both PS4 and Vita. Meanwhile, you can also download Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PS3, and Divekick is available for both PS3 and Vita.

While March has only two free games on its lineup for PS Plus members, they’re two games you don’t want to miss. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and The Witness will replace February’s offers on March 5 and be free to download for PS Plus members until April 1.

Here are the games to download now while they’re free. Sony initially said the PS3 and Vita games would be available until March 8, but the PlayStation store indicates all offers will expire March 5. So if you see a game you really want, go ahead and grab it now.

Fortnite Season 8 Lets You Complete Challenges With Friends

Epic Games has released the next big update for Fortnite, which launches Season 8. The new season adds several gameplay tweaks, new map areas and weapons, and updates the battle royale game with a brand-new Battle Pass. To help you finish its numerous tasks–which offer more than 100 rewards, including new skins–Fortnite’s new update now allows you to complete challenges with your friends.

To get some help with the Season 8 Battle Pass’ daily and weekly challenges, enable Party Assist prior to jumping into a Fortnite match. Once you do, every party member in your group, including you, will be able able to contribute to the overall progress for the selected challenge. However, Party Assist will not rope in players who are added to groups to fill in empty spaces during matchmaking. Party Assist won’t work in larger multiplayer modes, such as Team Rumble, either. For exact details on Party Assist, check out Season 8’s patch notes.

As stated before, Season 8 adds numerous other adjustments to Fortnite. Perhaps the most notable are the changes to Fortnite island, which sees the introduction of a new locations, such as a volcano, Sunny Steps, and Lazy Lagoon. The volcano is especially dangerous, as it brings lava to Fortnite. Lava is bouncy but harmful to touch, and it will cause hot air to billow from certain vents which can launch players into the sky.

There’s been some weapon chances as well. A new Pirate Cannon has been added that allows you to destroy structures from a distance or launch yourself across the map. The Chiller Grenade, on the other hand, has been vaulted as is no longer accessible for the time being. The grenade isn’t the only one either. The Sneaky Snowman, X-4 Stormwing, Shopping Cart, and All Terrain Kart have all been vaulted too. Assault rifles are still available, but Epic has adjusted their drop rates so the high-tiered ones won’t appear as often.

Fortnite is available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Switch, and mobile devices.

Some of Nintendo Switch’s Best Games Are $15 Off At Walmart Right Now

It’s rare that first-party Nintendo games ever go on sale–after all, the demand is always high, and the company prides itself on producing higher quality games. Because of that, it’s sort of a big deal when Nintendo games do get discounted, and right now, Walmart is answering all of our prayers by dropping the price on select first-party Nintendo games.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and Splatoon 2 have had their price slashed by $15, so you can now pick them up for $45 rather than $60. For the same price, Walmart is also offering starter packs for Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2, which include both the game and a guide. This is a pretty significant price drop, so act fast if you want to take advantage of this deal. Another perk: Walmart offers free two-day shipping, so you won’t be waiting long before they arrive.

In case you’ve forgotten, Breath of the Wild was our Game of the Year in 2017 and completely reimagined the Zelda formula in a gorgeous, open-world setting. Super Mario Odyssey offers over a dozen colorful worlds to explore, and surprisingly, it’s a fun couch co-op game when one player controls Mario and the other is spinning around as Cappy. Splatoon 2 landed on the Switch in mid-2017 and offers ink-slinging fun in both a single-player campaign and online multiplayer.

While not a first-party Nintendo game, Civilization VI is also selling for $45 right now. Civilization VI brought the classic turn-based strategy series to Switch for the first time, where players can build up their own empire by gathering resources and conquering other societies.

All four of these games are worth owning and it’s unclear how long they’ll be on sale, so if you’ve been on the fence about buying them, now’s likely your best chance to snatch them up at a discount.

Best Buy’s Weekly Game Deals For Xbox One, PS4, And Nintendo Switch

This week’s Best Buy deals are available through March 2, and there’s plenty to choose from whether you’re an avid PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch gamer. Since only a few days are left in this sale, let’s take a look at what games and bundles are most worth your money.

One of the more eye-catching deals is an Xbox One X Fallout 76 bundle that’s selling for $400–a pretty sweet deal considering the console on its own has been priced at $500 in the past. While Fallout 76 underwhelmed many long-time fans of the series, this bundle is an excellent chance to snag one of the most powerful consoles on the market for $100 cheaper–and if you’re a Fallout fan who, despite the negative reception, is still curious to give 76 a shot, then you’ll have that perk as well.

There are also several other Xbox One bundles discounted at Best Buy right now–most notably, this Xbox One S Fortnite bundle that includes the Eon cosmetic set, 2,000 V-Bucks, and a one-month trial for both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. It’s available for $250, down from $300. FYI, Fortnite Season 8 just started, so it’s a good time to get in on the action.

It’s a good time to pick up Red Dead Redemption 2, the critically acclaimed, open-world Western that’s so good, we named it Game of the Year for 2018. Red Dead 2’s standard edition is $20 off for both PS4 and Xbox One, selling for $40. Unsurprisingly, this is currently the best-selling deal in this week’s Best Buy sale.

If you have a Nintendo Switch, a Pro Controller is absolutely worth the upgrade, even though they’re pricey. Luckily, Best Buy has Switch Pro Controllers discounted from $70 down to $57, so here’s a great excuse to snag one and drastically improve your Switch-playing experience.

Mortal Kombat 11, which releases April 23, is also up for pre-order at Best Buy right now. While there’s no discount on the pre-order, you’ll get access to the beta test that will run March 28 through 31 for anyone who pre-orders the game on PS4 or Xbox One.

See more discounted games (plus a few price drops) from this week’s Best Buy sale below. And remember: these offers are only available through Saturday; a new batch of deals will be posted on Sunday.
